“Carry-overs” of binary addition are performed in the same manner as in decimal addition. With the help of the above rules addition of three or more binary numbers can be worked out but this has little use in digital computers.

C is not a high level language - relatively speaking its only one step off assembly language. How did you learn C without understanding binary, in order to know the difference between an int and an unsigned int, for example. Or what \0 really means in a string?
